Italy - Day 1

Thanks to Jamie's work in international tax, she was presented an opportunity to take part in a conference in Florence, Italy in early October. Naturally, Mallory and Steve wanted to tag along.

The trip started on October 2nd at MSP airport. My word, look at all that luggage.

The first leg was an 8+ hour flight to Amsterdam. It doesn't appear that Jamie is too worried about it. Mallory did very well on the flight to Amsterdam. Since it was an overnight trip, Mallory slept for a good portion of the flight. Unfortunately, our in flight video services didn't hold up their end of the bargain.

After a 4 hour layover in Amsterdam, it was off to Florence. However, high winds forced us to land in Pisa (home of the leaning tower) instead. Here Mallory is getting an unscheduled meal in the Pisa airport while we wait for a bus to take us to Florence.

Finally the bus arrived, and Mallory and Mom took their place in the back. It was actually a pretty scenic drive, which Jamie and Mallory missed most of by napping. By the time we got to the Florence airport and took a cab to our hotel, we had been travelling for 20 straight hours.
