Fun in the Sun

On Friday afternoons during the summer, Mallory and Mom got to spend some quality time together in the backyard.
They often enjoyed some tasty snacks...

And took turns going down the huge water slide...

...and ran around like a crazy person.

Yep, Mallory and Mommy time sure was a winner.

Ropes Park

The Labor Day fun wasn't quite over yet. We still had in us a bike ride over to French Park, which has an awesome playground.

Mal conquered the monkey bars with very little help from Dad.

And was very brave in handling the ropes course.

A quick pause before more climbing.

And then a couple turns on the tire swing with Dad, who had to quickly bow out before getting too dizzy.

MN State Fair

We made it back from Sherburn in time for Mallory to make her annual trip to the MN State Fair with Nani and Poppa Jim.

Here she tries some of the craziest food the fair has to offer. Or maybe it is just a homemade PB&J sandwich.

And boy were the celebs out in full force. Here she is with the Perfect Sventleman, Sven Sundegaard.

And Crunch. Hey Crunch, where is Ricky Rubio?

And of course, the M&M Boys. Joe Mauer had to sit out 3 weeks after posing for this photo.

Sherburn - Labor Day 11

Over Labor Day we made a quick trip down to Sherburn to visit Steve's Grandma and Grandpa.

And since we were right on Fox Lake, might as well do some boating. Mallory liked modelling her fancy life jacket.

It was a little windy and chilly on the boat, but we had a good time with Uncle Butch and Aunt Diane.

Of course the trip wouldn't be complete without doing some fishing with Papa Ig. Unfortunately they weren't biting that day.

And on our way out of town the girls stopped to check out some of Sherburn's finest sweet corn.

Sesame Street Live

Jamie has quite the in - one of her friends helps designs sets for Sesame Street Live. Which means the girls got to go to a full dress rehearsal.

Big Bird was one of the many Sesame Street characters in attendance.

The kids even got to go up towards the front of the stage to get a firsthand view of the show.

And as you can tell, Mallory was very excited about it.

Painting the New Room

With a little brother or sister on the way, Mallory graciously ceded her old room and moved into some more spacious digs.
But first we needed to apply a fresh coat of paint to her new big girl room.

Pretty good form....

These two made a good painting team.

Canterbury Park - 2011

Since we had so much fun the first time around, we decided to go back to Canterbury Park for Carlson Day at the Races (U of M business school).

This time around Aunt Jill came with and provided Mallory a great view of the races.

And they got up close and personal with some horses.

It is unclear who is more excited to pet the horse: Mallory or Jill.

At the end of the evening Mallory got to go on a horsey ride of her own.

South Lake Pediatrics Picnic

Each summer Mallory's pediatrician hosts an outdoor party at a local park. This is the second year we have attended and it is quite a good time.

There was a petting zoo...

...and slides...

...and feats of strength...

...and some live music from the Teddy Bear Band. Which meant that BumbleBear got to come out and enjoy some music and dancing.
