Walk Outside

One one of the few weekends that the temperature climbed near the freezing mark, we decided to get out of the house for a bit and take Mallory on a walk.

At first glance, she doesn't appear to enthused about the prospect of the walk.

But upon closer inspection...

Jamie was explaining to Mallory all the places she was going to take her on the walk.

After a brisk walk, Mallory needed to sit in the snowbank to cool off.

12 Month Photos

So little Mally turned one earlier this month. Luckily, our experiment of putting her in the same onesie every month for her photos worked, since she didn't outgrow it.

Mallory weighed in at 19 lbs, 7 oz at her 12 month appointment (20th percentile) and was 29 1/4 inches (50th percentile).

The other major development is that right before her birthday she took her first steps. She can get around slowly but surely via walking, and usually uses some combination of walking/crawling to get to her destination.

She has also made a few new friends over the last 12 months.

But of course Samson is still her best buddy.

It appears she wants to be like him when she grows up...

1 Year Birthday - Part V

But the longer it went, the more into she got.

And the messier she started to get.

Maybe the sugar started kicking in, but she sure seemed to like it.

It appears that Mallory is handling turning one better than her Mom and Dad.

Gnocchi and cake, quite the combination. Needless to say, she went up to the bathtub pretty quickly after this...

1 Year Birthday - Part IV

After a nice filling meal, it was time to make a mess of some cake.

Here is the before picture.

Mallory again was pretty dainty with the cake. She would take small pieces and bites of the frosting...

...but she didn't do nearly as much damage as we thought/hoped.

So far, pretty clean...

1 Year Birthday - Part III

The final leg of the birthday extravaganza was a nice dinner at home with Mom and Dad. Mallory requested her favorite meal, gnocchi.

Unfortunately before dinner there was her 12 month appointment at the doctor which included some nasty shots. She took a bit of a nap on the way home and worked up a little sweat in the process.

But after that she was refreshed and ready to eat some gnocchi.

Here she is asking Mom to serve it up quicker since Dad was being of no help whatsoever.

We were able to get most of it in her mouth, we think.

1 Year Birthday - Part II

Mallory slept in a bit, had a nice pancake breakfast, then it was time to open some presents.

Just like at Christmas, she was more intersted in playing with the ribbons on the packages. Here she is offering to share.

But she did try to open a couple of her own presents this time.

She even had time for a quick smile to the camera.

And what birthday would be complete without a ride in a computer box from Grandpa.

1 Year Birthday - Part I

The weekend of Mallory's birthday, we put together a party with Mallory's friends and family. Even though she was pretty sick the evening of her party, she stuck it out like a trooper.

Here she is wondering why all these people are singing to her.

And now she is even more confused because there is something on fire right in front of her.

Mallory was a little hesitant initially to eat her carrot cake cupcake (homemade by Mom and Dad), but she eventually warmed up to it.

She certainly liked taking small bites of the frosting and licking it off her finger.

A couple more bites of cupcake, a quick photo with Mom and Dad, then it was off to bed. For Mallory at least, the party went on strong without her. Thanks to all those that were able to attend.

The Yogurt Incident

One of Mallory's favorite snacks is yogurt. One afternoon, Jamie decided to let Mallory explore a little bit with the spoon. So she went to the kitchen to get another spoon. In the meantime, Mallory proceeded to spill yogurt all over herself, the dog, and the floor in the 10 seconds that she was gone. Here is the aftermath:

Mallory really likes holding the spoon and yogurt carton all by herself.

As you can see, we may need a little more practice with the spoon.

Maybe it will be easier to drink it like a smoothie.

This is a little more like it, we have the right end of the spoon in her mouth at least.

Here she is, very proud of the mess that she made.

Day with Dad

A couple weeks ago Mallory wasn't quite well enough to go to daycare, so she and Dad stayed home for the day. Two ways to know that Dad is in charge of the child care...

1) Toys all over the floor (Mallory's and Samson's)

2) Mallory is dressed up in Gophers gear.

Dad is wondering if it is too early to submit her application to the Carlson School of Management.

Mallory and Dad are both looking forward to cheering on Tubby's Gophers during March Madness next month. Go Gophers!

Mally's Bus

Mom and Dad caved and gave Mallory one of her birthday presents about a week early. Guessing this won't be the last time this happens.

The hope was that she could push her bus around and it would help her learn to walk...

...but she was more interested in getting rides from Dad and...

...climbing all over the thing.

Here she is showing off her new ride to Samson.

While Mallory checks out some of the compartments, Samson seems concerned that this is just yet another toy that she will torture him with.

Bath Time - KPMG Style

One of Mallory's favorite pre-bed activities is to get a nice warm bath. She generally bathes about every other day, unless this situation warrants an emergency cleaning.

We must pay extra attention to her now since she isn't content just sitting in the water and splashing around anymore.

But how can you argue with that face?

After getting all cleaned up, it is time to dry off with Mom and Dad. Dad is also trying to teach her some good dental hygiene.

While she just gets some good old fashioned cuddles from Mom.

Tell me this doesn't look like a futue tax consultant...

Addison and Mallory

A couple weeks ago on one of Jamie's day off she offered to help her friend Sarah and watch Addison for the day.

Luckily Nani Judie was there in the morning to help play man to man defense on the two little ones.

Mallory seemed to enjoy having another little one around the house. Uh oh.

She tought Addison the right way to sit in the swing...

and also the wrong way. This is Mallory showing off some of her surfing moves. Hawaii, here we come.

And of course Mallory wasn't shy in offering up the hugs and kisses.
